About Me

Hi, I’m Lise Fiola, owner of Lise Fiola Creations.  I was diagnosed with autism at 47. So here I am, a middle-aged woman who may seem high-functioning on the outside—like I’ve got it all together. But behind the scenes, it’s a different story: social awkwardness, intense special interests (obsessions, really), and a whole lot of pretending to be normal just to survive. It's exhausting.

I started this blog to give a much-needed voice to the experience of late-diagnosed women like myself—because there aren’t many relatable examples out there.  Although some of us appear to do relatively well in our professional and personal lives, there are many hidden struggles: the mental gymnastics of every social interaction, the burnout from conforming all day, and the overwhelming need for alone time to recharge (read: hide from the world for a while).

My goal is to shed some light on the quirks and challenges that come with being an autistic woman in a world that doesn’t always get it. If you’re looking for a place to laugh, learn, and maybe even feel a little less alone in your own experiences, you’ve come to the right spot!

So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let’s unravel the beautifully messy, oddly insightful, and often exhausting world of autism together.
